A sad story with a happy ending

A sad story with a happy ending

A sad story with a happy ending

Many years ago I was involved in an accident where my right hand was very badly burnt. I was rushed to the hospital burns unit where I remained until they had me in a stable condition. When I left I had to wear a plastic wrapping on my hand for three months to prevent any infection. The surgeons said that although my hand would heal I would be left deeply scarred.

Three months passed and eventually, they removed the plastic. Yes, the scarring looked horrendous! Many people do not want to have unsightly scars on their body. And as a massage therapist, I personally felt that this was not a good look for me at all! But, I was also a practitioner of aromatherapy and as soon as I got home from the hospital out came my essential oils.

Every day I lovingly massaged my hand using Lavender essential oil, combined with Wheatgerm as the carrier oil. Both lavender and wheatgerm are highly cytophylactic, which means that they stimulate the generation and growth of new skin cells. I returned to the hospital just six weeks later and my consultant literally could not believe his eyes! I continued my self-treatment for a further three months and as I did the scars faded further and further. To this day my scarring is almost invisible! I’ll show you sometime if you’d like to have a look. Maybe at one of my aromatherapy workshops?
